| AWAY By Michael Gow First perfomed in 1986, Michael Gow's 'Away' won the NSW premier's Literary Award, the Sydney Theatre Critic's Circle Award an AWGIE for best play and the Green Room Award. 'Away' has been voted Australia's favourite play many times in newspapers and magazine polls throughout the country. The play has been compared with Summer Of the Seventeenth Doll as one of the great classics about Australian life and has been on the High School syllabus for ten years. Set in the summer of 1967-68, the play follows the life of three very different families as they head to the coast for their summer holidays. Often described as Australia's great play about loss and reconciliation, Away is both funny and heartbreaking. Set in post - war baby boom Australia, the play is full of characters we instantly recognize and care about. |

| We that is the OALJTFC were privileged to not only attend the first preview of this fabulous play but also the opening night, which by the way was a roaring success. Below are some candid snaps taken of the cast celebrating after the first opening night of 'Away'. Over the next month I imagine there will be many more such nights as this entertaining troupe tour around country NSW wowing audiences everywhere with their unique brand of talent. I'm sure you can spot our hero Lani as he stands in his element which is the theatre. |
