| Name: Lani John Tupu Born: 4th November 1955 in Auckland, New Zealand Biographical Information: Educated at Rongotal Collage (Wellington, New Zealand), Wellington Teachers Training College, and New Zealand Drama School (with an emphasis on the classical training). Lani helped found an Australian theater group (no longer running) 'Walkers and Talkers', and has been active in stage production as a director as well as an actor. His Awards Include: -Best new talent at the 1984 Feltex Television Awards and in 1985 he was nominated for Best Actor. -Finalist for the Male Supporting Role at the 1986 Listener Film Television Awards for his work in the film Send A Gorilla. -From the New Zealand Film Television Awards 1993, Awards for Best Dramatic Performance and a Best Actor Award for Talk Of The Town. (which he also directed) at the Dreamaker Festival in Ontario, Canada. He continues to coach actors and offer screen acting workshops, through his company, The screen Actor's Studio, based in Sydney. Lani is a husband and father and the family also includes a Blue Burmese cat named Angel. Other Trivia: -Lani loves oil painting, going to see movies, playing bad guy roles (he finds them liberating). -As a child, his mother used to read to him 'When We Were Five', by A.A.Milne. -The name "Walkers and Talkers" came out of a late night drinking session where a bunch of four actors decided that their profession had to do with walking, talking and trying not to bump into the furniture.
